      Mani Ratnam

      Mani Rathnam (1956, Madras) acquired his interest in film from his mother, the producer 'Venus' Rathnam. Before starting work as writer and director, he studied trade and bookkeeping. His début film, Pallavi anupallavi, won several prizes and acquired two Oscar nominations.
