Jaideep Varma

Screenwriter, writer and filmmaker Jaideep VARMA (1967, India) worked in advertising as a copywriter, and wrote for various music publications before moving into filmmaking. He's made five feature-length films, and in 2005 he wrote a novel, (Local). Varma's passions also lie outside film: he is the creator of Impact Index, a statistical system used in cricket. His film Leaving Home (2010, doc) was the first documentary in the history of Indian cinema to release nationally in theatres. I Am Offended (2015), selected for IFFR 2023, was originally released on YouTube.
