Heleen Van Haegenborgh (1980) is a contemporary music composer and performs as a solist. She is also active in the field of multimedia productions. Nam June Paik (1932 - 2006) worked on several mediums of art but was often being credited for discovering and inventing the medium known as video art.<br /><br />

In 1964, at the Fluxhall on Canal Street in New York, Nam June Paik gave the first public screening of Zen For Film. This was a projection of a roll of clear leader film. The only image that could be seen in the darkness was a small rectangle of light, animated only by the scratches and dust that accumulated on the film. Just as John Cage’s 4’33” placed listeners in the unfamiliar role of opening their ears to random, ambient phenomena and listening to themselves, and to the environment in which they were immersed, so Nam June Paik’s Zen For Film also affected the spectator. Cage connoisseur Van Haegenborgh composed a tribute for prepared piano and tapes.
