Elem Klimov

Elem Klimov (1933) was born in Stalingrad, now Volgograd. His father was prominent within the Moscow Communist Party. Klimov studied aeronautics and later attended the famous Moscow Film Institute VGIK, alongside e.g. Tarkovsky, Solovyov and Shukshin. His great example and teacher in those years was Michail Romm. During the age of Glasnost, Klimov played an important role in the rehabilitation of old, previously prohibited films.
