Edward Ruscha

Edward RUSCHA (1937, VS) is a Los Angeles based artist, painter, printmaker, photographer, and filmmaker. He is best known for his innovative use of language in paintings. His work makes us think about the definitions and values we assign to popular culture. He was the United States representative at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005. In 2006, the National Gallery Jeu de Paume in Paris hosted a major retrospective of his photographs.
