Chen Kengran
CHEN, Kengran (1905 - 1958, China) started in theatre as writer and actor. In 1925 he borrowed money from his father to start his own film company Youlian. He wrote, directed and produceed many of his own films. In 1931, he had already made forty features for Youlian, including the thirteen-part film series The Swordswoman of Huangjiang. His wife Xu Qinfang plays the lead.
