Tohkapi Cinema Ltd is a production company committed to telling original, authentic stories with substance and style rooted in the worldviews, characters and sensibilities of the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island (North America). Founded in 2017 Tohkapi Cinema Ltd (Tohkapi meaning 'opening eyes' in the Cree language) focuses on creating relevant, poignant and exciting scripted feature films and television series.
Micheal Auger is a proud member of the Woodland Cree people in the Treaty Eight territory of Northern Alberta, Canada. Micheal moved to the west coast city of Vancouver in 2002 to begin his filmmaking journey in earnest. He has produced several short films, a feature film and a one-hour documentary set for national broadcast in early 2021 on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network.
