Kathleen McInnis

Kathleen McInnis helps emerging world cinema filmmakers merge their creative and business development on the premiere film festival circuit at festivals such as Toronto, Cannes, Berlin, Sundance, Rotterdam, and Karlovy Vary, through strategic PR and marketing campaigns.

Kathleen began her festival career at the Seattle Int’l Film Festival (as Director of Publicity/Promotion, Director of Industry Programming, and Senior Programmer) before going to Palm Springs ShortFest first as Film Curator and then Festival Director. She was invited by Toronto (TIFF) to shape the first-ever international section of ShortCuts; programed international shorts at Hot Docs, and served as Artistic Director of Aspen ShortsFest. She has consulted with Tribeca short film programming and currently consults with Kortfilmfestivalen (Norway) as industry liaison. Kathleen also created and curates the unique SIFF’s New Works-in-Progress Forum.

As Co-Producer / Producer (Marketing/Publicity), Kathleen’s recent films include the much-awarded Retablo (Peru) from Director Alvaro Delgado Aparicio; the multiple award-winning feature documentary, Fantastic Machine (Sweden) from Filmmakers Maximilien van Aertryck and Axel Danielson, as well as the animated short film from Oscar-shortlisted Director Floor Adams, Birdhouse (Netherlands), and Filmmaker Ivana Todorovic’s documentary short subject, End of the Road (Serbia). 

Kathleen has been on staff/faculty at UCLA, NYU and LMU film schools, and continues to be a mentor for the American Film Showcase, a partnership between the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. Kathleen also serves on festival juries, conducts master classes, panels (as panelist and moderator), and gives keynotes on festival strategies and audience design at festivals around the world. 

Kathleen is a member of The Academy (AMPAS), the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), Independent Documentary Association (IDA), Film Independent, and WGA-w. Her script, Forgotten, is produced by Effie Brown for GameChanger. Kathleen is also producing The Parker Tribe, which she co-wrote with Director Jane Baker.
