Middle-aged Anne seems to have it all. A sweet husband, two nice daughters, a satisfying job and a large home set in natural surroundings. Yet something is missing. This reaches its apotheosis when her stepson, the restless teen Gustav, unexpectedly moves in. Fleeting glances escalate, until Anne risks everything by seducing him.
Trine Dyrholm played a supporting role in May el-Toukhy’s feature film debut Long Story Short. Her deliberately fragmentary second film is built around the Danish star. Anne is a character Dyrholm can really sink her teeth into: what drives her to her reckless deed? The result is a phenomenal, complex role – sometimes inscrutable, loving, yet not always sympathetic. In short, a human being of flesh and blood.
