One of director Roberto Rossellini’s few comedies. A fable about a camera that has the power to kill with a click of the shutter, this could almost be a parody of the political aims of Neo-realism: the camera captures truth, but truth can be a dangerous thing. Rossellini left before the film was completed; the footage was assembled and released a few years later, without his permission. Yet connoisseurs such as the Italian critic and festival director Adriano Aprá, regard the film as an important and unknown film in the oeuvre of Rossellini.
