The 35th edition of CineMart will take place during IFFR PRO Days from 28 January to 31 January 2018
IFFR PRO covers all industry-related activities; the Hubert Bals Fund, IFFR PRO Hub which includes expert panels, talks and masterclasses, Rotterdam Lab and much more. IFFR PRO also includes CineMart, international co-production market of its kind, now looking ahead to its 35th edition.
CineMart offers a selection of carefully curated feature film projects – independent arthouse films with market potential. As part of IFFR PRO Days, CineMart takes place during IFFR 2018, and heralds an important start of the 'film year'.
As part of IFFR PRO, CineMart’s trademark is the informal and highly productive atmosphere. With the aim to optimise project’s opportunities within the marketplace, we have downsized the selection to around 15 projects that will benefit from a streamlined and tailor-made programme and meeting schedule.
This also means that the selected projects will start preparing for the CineMart sessions a month ahead of the event with an appointed mentor. Together they will carefully go through the production and market strategy, offering advice to make sure the teams can make the most out of CineMart and create the right connections.
In order to create efficient and fruitful meetings between project teams and CineMart guests, we are introducing our new Spotlight event. Relevant elements, key to the further development of the project, will be publicly discussed between the project teams and the mentors in a convivial setting.
Meetings & Spotlight
After the project selection is completed, the CineMart staff creates a detailed overview of all selected projects. On the basis of this digital dossier, CineMart guests can choose up to 5 projects of their interest beforehand, with the possibility to request more on-site. Both the project teams and mentors will assess these meetings requests, and will also have the possibility to request meetings with CineMart guests in return. The emphasis of the meetings will be on finding the right creative and financial partners. Meetings between festivals, markets, (regional) funds and CineMart projects will only be planned by request of the project team.
The CineMart staff provides a tailor-made schedule for both project teams and CineMart guests respectively. A one-to-one with the project teams now has variable time slots depending on what both representatives and guests need and can offer. With the refocus of the co-production market, a different way of presenting the projects is introduced. During the CineMart Spotlight event, all projects are presented publicly, which will be open to everyone with a CineMart badge. There will be a possibility to request additional meetings after the Spotlight event.
CineMart accreditations & projects
CineMart is a by invitation only market. The list of industry delegates attending CineMart as part of IFFR PRO, is carefully reviewed each year in order to ensure that the attending industry can contribute to the projects in the CineMart selection. The CineMart delegates are co-producers, sales agents, distributors, broadcasters and potential financiers. CineMart-accredited guests are provided with the new IFFR PRO Projects publication with details on all projects and talent presented at IFFR PRO Days; including CineMart, BoostNL, VR and Rotterdam Lab. CineMart badge holders can request a limited number of meetings with selected CineMart projects. Invitations are sent out by the end of November.
