IFFR 2023: Art Directions

A multi-disciplinary section that expands the realm of cinema to installations, Immersive Media and live audio-visual performances. Alongside the IFFR-commissioned Steve McQueen artwork Sunshine State presented in collaboration with Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, the Art Directions programme presents installations, its sound//vision programme of audio-visual performances at WORM, and a lineup of Immersive Media.

“Art Directions represents all our ambitions for the programme in 2023, expanding our understanding of everything cinema can be. In locations such as our Rotterdam Central Station, the Depot and WORM, we’re making sure we can’t be missed across our home city.’’

— Festival Director, Vanja Kaludjercic

Art Directions invites you to experience genre-defying cinematic art in Rotterdam where you can encounter immersive installations, live performances, new media experiments, and audio-visual explorations in the city’s favourite art venues.

At IFFR, we celebrate the careers of radical filmmakers and visual artists. For our 52nd edition, we have carefully curated our Focus programmes of inspiring creatives. Read more about our Focus Programmes for 2023 or check out the programme to find these films.
