Profile 

Co-founded by Firat Sezgin and Deniz Tortum, Institute of Time is an interdisciplinary film and new media company based in Utrecht and Istanbul. Established in 2018, the Institute’s previous works have been shown at  Venice Film Festival, IFFR and Istanbul Film Festival.

Firat Sezgin is a producer working in film and in new media. After graduation from Emerson College (2011) with a BA in producing for film and a minor in marketing, he returned to Istanbul where he worked in different positions for  various productions. In his last five years in Istanbul, he joined the largest Turkish studio BKM, where he worked in national and international licensing and distribution as well as on more than 20 co-productions. He co-founded the Institute of Time to work on independent projects. His last VR work Floodplain premiered at the  Venice Film Festival. His latest documentary had its world premiere at IFFR 2020. He was a part of the Immersive Storytelling Workshop by the Netherlands Film Fund and the 2021 JIhlava International Documentary FF's Emerging Producers. He lives between Utrecht and Istanbul.
