sound//vision is IFFR’s innovative, experimental late-night programme, made up of four evenings and nights of live A/V performances in WORM.

In his performance After SFX in collaboration with Witte de With, Jordanian Lawrence Abu Hamdan, who lives in Beirut, will explore our audio memory. He will do so using sounds, voices and texts from his own library of sound-effect objects: the ‘Earwitness Inventory’. He reveals the often unexpected ways we retain audio events in our memory.

The first sound//vision evening will conclude with Spectral Landscape by Spanish filmmaker and artist Luis Macías, which was developed as a ‘silent’ performance, but will be – specially for this event – accompanied by live sound. Macías presents pulsating images using four slide projectors and coloured filters: corona-like shots and layered, processed and abstracted nature shots. The Portuguese artist and musician Alfredo Costa Monteiro, who lives in Spain, will accompany the images in his usual, lo-fi way by turning objects into instruments or vice versa. This performance is part of the Deep Focus programme Blackout.
