Alfredo Jaar will introduce controversial Portuguese artist Grada Kilomba within IFFR’s Frameworks programme. Kilomba is an interdisciplinary artist and writer whose work draws on memory, trauma, race, gender and “the decolonisation of knowledge and narrative”. She is best known for her critical writing and unconventional use of artistic practice. Incorporating a variety of formats from video installation, staged readings and performance to text collage and sound installations she gives body, voice and image to her own writings.
