The young Lillian Gish - who had a career spanning 75 years - is appropriated from silent-era cinema and plunged into a new and haunting role. She finds herself amidst a riot of Freudian imagery in a stream of nightmarish images. Steers’ style and technique strongly recall the collage novels of Surrealist Max Ernst.
