Monospace

The images, a series of intermittent ragged dark lines, receding in dead on perspective, suggest high speeds and, beyond the picture's vanishing point, the kind of movement we are familiar with from aircraft take offs. But the lines are in fact the result of landings, the trails left by aeroplane wheels on the concrete of the runway. The predominant feature of Monospace is that of space taken to its logical extreme, namely emptiness. The mental search of the artist led to a place where the general public has never stood, if you discount airport staff.
