Slidin' Alles Bunt und Wunderbar is a trilogy written and directed by three young film-makers. The stories are indirectly related to each other and the film is very consistent in theme and style. Characters with a small part in one part, can come to the foreground in another. The film consists of a journey into the world of (viennese) youth and their (counter-) culture. In part one, Tagada (directed by Albert), we follow two girls aged 17, Petra and Nicole. They hang around in shopping centres and bars. When they go along with an unknown man, a gap emerges between them. Part two, Asi Lu (directed by Jud), is about sex, pills, clothing fetishes and nightlife, but also about frustration and claustrophobia.Billie likes to break rules and experiences much in her milieu as empty. In the end she takes seriously things that others only do for the kick. In part three, Crash (directed by Grimm), we see four kids going to a rave, but on the way they happen to come into contact with a rural society that is strange to them. The mood becomes tense and explosive. Slidin' provides a picture of a nocturnal generation that is driven by the need for new kicks, to consume everything. The stories are part of modern folklore: wild, adventurous and sad, but also moving and familiar.
