Arun, an Indian director, seeks in vain in the chaos and confusion of Madras for an idea for his next film. Then he suddenly finds himself in front of a statue of the androgynous god Ardanari, half man, half woman. The ambiguity of this mysterious figure makes his imagination run riot. The director then starts a quest that brings him into contact with Sharda, a young eunuch who agrees to tell the story of his life. The story of Sharda blossoms against the background of the fantasies of Arun as in a popular film. The relationship between the two is intense, but is far from easy. One day Sharda disappears - not just from the film story, but also in reality.Madras Eyes was shot in Southern India in a real eunuch community. The men dress and behave like women. The Italian makers started making a documentary, but during shooting, it gradually turned into a drama feature partly based on real-life events.
