Ecce homo tells the story, more or less silently, of a man and a woman who meet again and try to relive the experience they had previously had. They exchange glances in a bus and only framing and editing is used to make the tension between them tangible. The maker says that the film 'uses a crumbled zoom-out to "move in on the character"'. Other than in the earlier dance films by Hazekamp this film points to thefeature film tradition and could be regarded as an impulse or study for a long film.Hazekamp calls the film a 'star-vehicle for Hannie van den Hoven'. But the industrial landscape around Rotterdam plays an important role in the film alongside the actors.
