Yeh Hongwei

Yeh Hung-wei was born in 1963 in the village of Fengyuan in Central Taiwan. He has been a film fan since his early youth; the memory of this formed the basis for his debut film Never-ending Memory (1988). In 1968 he left with his family for Taipei, where in 1980 he started on a course in Film and Drama at the Chinese Culture University. After military service, he worked as scriptwriter for television. His second feature, Curses of the Knife (1989), was awarded a Golden Horse for the best film and best directing as the Taiwan Film Festival.
