Wu Nien-jen

Wu Nien-jen (1952, Taiwan) studied economics, but soon started writing screenplays. From 1978 he was script-supervisor with the Taiwanese Central Motion Picture Company. He wrote more than seventy scripts for e.g. Hou Hsiao-hsien (The Puppetmaster), Zeng Zhuangxiang and Lin Quingjie, and in 1994 made his directing début with the widely-praised A Borrowed Life.
