Wolfgang Staudte

Wolfgang STAUDTE (1906 – 1984, Germany) was a German filmmaker, script writer and actor. He began his career as an actor, making his professional stage debut in 1929 in Berlin. He started with making films in 1933 as a writer and director of advertising shorts. After WOII, he became a key figure in the reconstruction of the German film industry. The main focus of his work was to highlight the limits of German national pride. His films Murderers Among Us (1946) and Rotation (1949) in particular were centered around the theme of anti-fascism.
