Thomas Heise

After training as a printer, Thomas HEISE (b. 1955, Berlin/GDR) worked as an assistant director at the Babelsberg film studio in Potsdam. He went on to study at the Potsdam-Babelsberg Film Academy (HFF/B). Since then he has primarily made documentaries. At the start of his career, his productions were regularly destroyed or banned by the German Democratic Republic for political reasons. Heise worked for a period as theatre director and took up filming again after the wall came down. His documentaries have been screened at several international film festivals.
