Sophia Al-Maria

Sophia AL-MARIA (1983, Qatar) studied comparative literature at the American University in Cairo, and aural and visual cultures at Goldsmiths, University of London. She is an artist, filmmaker and writer. In her work, she regularly explores the theme of 'Gulf Futurism'. In 2012, Al-Maria published a memoir, entitled The Girl Who Fell to Earth. She us currently working on her first feature film.
