Sofia Coppola
Sofia COPPOLA (1971, USA), daughter of Francis Ford, first came to notice in her father's The Godfather III. She was educated in photography at Mills College and in painting at CalArts, both in California. She made her feature debut with the successful The Virgin Suicides. For Lost in Translation (2003), she was nominated for three Oscars and won the award for Best Screenplay. Her third feature as a writer/director is Marie Antoinette, which she has also produced. The film’s costume designer, Milena Canonero, won an Academy Award for her work on the film.
