Shawkat Amin Korki

In 1975, fearing repression from the Iraqi regime, Shawkat AMIN KORKI (1973, Zakho, Iraqi Kurdistan) and his family fled to Iran and stayed there until 1999. He is not only a film maker but has also worked in theatre and for Iranian and Iraqi Kurdish TV. His short films have been screened at various international film festivals and some have received awards. In 2002 he organised the first Kurdistan Short Film Festival. Crossing the Dust is his first feature.
