Sergio Castilla

Director, writer, actor and producer Sergio CASTILLA (1942, Chile) founded two film theaters in Chile, using el rotativo, the continuous screening technique. Castilla studied film in France at the Institut des Hautes Etudes Cinématographiques. Afterwards he returned to Chile, creating films during the government of Salvador Allende. During the Pinochet regime, Castilla was in exile and lived in France, Sweden and the USA. His films have been shown at many prestigious film festivals among which New Directors New Filn at MoMA, New York Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival. His short Pinochet fascista asesino traidor agente del imperialismo (1974) is selected for the IFFR 2024 Focus: Chile in the Heart.
