Sana Na N'Hada

Still: Nome

Filmmaker Sana NA N'HADA (1950, Guinea-Bissau) studied at the Cuba Institute of Cinematographic Arts and Industries. After returning to Guinea, he documented the war of independence. Subsequently, his cinema would be constructed in a back and forth between the memory of the Portuguese occupation, the struggles for independence and a meditation on the destruction of traditional societies in Guinea-Bissau – and with them, of an ecological model where man accepts the powers of a nature to which he knows he belongs. Nome (2023) is selected for IFFR 2024.
