Roman Polanski

Roman Polanski (1933, Paris) was three when he returned with his parents to Cracow. He just managed to survive the terrors of the Cracow ghetto. He trained at the famous Lodz film school, where he studied from 1954 to 1959. His début film Knife in the Water (1962) won the critics' prize at the Venice Film Festival.
