Dutch director Rogier van HESP (1985) has made various short films and commercials for Dutch television. He graduated from the Dutch Film Academy in 2008 with his short film Sight and the commercial Robbery. Sight received a Nassenstein Award for best fiction project of that year and his commercials have garnered esteemed awards, including a Golden and two Silver Lions at Cannes. Goud is his feature debut.

De ultieme droom van een jonge turner− goud op de Olympische Spelen − komt in het gedrang als hij de iets oudere fysiotherapeut Irene leert kennen.

Het leven van de jonge Timo staat in het teken van turnen. Hij traint intensief voor het WK, met Olympisch goud als ultiem doel. Maar de heftige gevoelens die zijn fysiotherapeut Irene in hem losmaakt, zetten alles op losse schroeven − ook de complexe relatie met zijn veeleisende, gehandicapte vader.
