Raymond Red
Raymond RED (1965, Philippines) was a leading figure in the independent alternative film scene in Manila at an early age. He attended courses in painting and photography at the Philippine High School for the Arts. He continued his training at the University of the Philippines Film Centre, where he made his first short film on Super-8 in 1982. In 1988, the Cultural Centre of the Philippines dedicated a retrospective to his work. In 2000, he was the first Filipino to win a Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival. He was given the prize for his short film Anino.
