Philippe Parreno

Philippe Parreno

An important theme in the artistic practice of Philippe PARRENO (1964), based in Paris, is the nature of an image and the modes of its exhibition. In his practice, whether this translates to the visual arts, film or an exhibition, he questions the objectivity of perception and explores the difference between reality and the representation of reality. Parreno's installations No Ghost Just a Shell (2000, with Pierre Huyghe and Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster), The Boy from Mars (2003) and Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait (2006, co-dir) were also shown in Rotterdam. His work is part of major collections in the Museum of Modern Art and Guggenheim Museum (New York), Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of the 21st Century (Japan).
