      Philippe Garrel

      In the early 1970s, Philippe GARREL (1948, France) made his name with films like The Inner Scar (1970) and Les hautes solitudes(1974). Since then, he has worked on a large and consistent oeuvre. From 1972 to 1984, he worked with the German singer Nico, with whom he had a relationship. Both his son Louis Garrel and his daughter Esther Garrel have acted several times in his father's films, e.g. in Regular Lovers (2005), Jealousy (2013) and Lover for a Day (2017). Garrel's films have won multiple awards in Cannes and Venice, among others.
