Oskar Fischinger

Oskar FISCHINGER (1900, Germany - 1967, USA) was an abstract painter and experimental filmmaker. He moved to Hollywood in 1936 but found it difficult to work within the studio system. His frustration at not being able to produce independent films led him to take up oil painting. For the last twenty years of his life, Fischinger had to content himself with unfinished projects, his paintings and a light-show instrument, the Lumigraph, of his own invention.
