Monica Flaherty

Monica FLAHERTY (1920, USA) travelled from a young age, visiting Samoa with her parents Robert and Frances Flaherty for their work on Moana, when she was three years old. Revisiting her father's silent film, she added Samoan dialogue, sound effects and indigenous songs she heard as a child. The result, selected for IFFR 2023, is Moana with Sound (1980).
