Mijke de JONG (1959, the Netherlands) directs television drama, features, short films, documentaries, and plays. Her films have won numerous awards, among them a Crystal Bear for Best Film at the Berlin Film Festival for Bluebird (2004). Layla M. (2016) had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. Katia's Sister (2008) won the Youth Jury Prize at Locarno. Her films have also won several Golden Calfs: for the five actresses in Broos/Brittle (1997), Best Film for Joy (2010), and Best Direction for Tussenstand (2007). Her twelfth feature film, the telefilm Along the Way (2022), is based on the story of the twin sisters Nahid and Malihe from Afghanistan, whom she met during her volunteer work in Camp Moria on Lesbos.
