Miguel Gomes

Miguel GOMES (1972, Portugal) studied at the Portuguese Film and Theatre School in Lisbon, then worked as a film critic and filmmaker. He made several award-winning short films. In 2004, he made his debut feature The Face You Deserve, which has been shown in Rotterdam. His second feature, Our Beloved Month of August (2008), was selected for the Quinzaine des Realisateurs in Cannes. Retrospectives from Gomes' work have been programmed at the Viennale, the Torino Film Festival and the Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival. His film Tabu was the winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at the Berlinale in 2012. In 2015, his Arabian Nights trilogy premiered at the Cannes Festival.
