Martine Deyres

Martine DEYRES (1972, France) graduated in Theater Studies and worked as an actress before moving on to documentary filmmaking. After she followed documentary film workshops at Ateliers Varan in Paris and trained at the Documentary School of Lussas, she directed her graduation film, Lieu commun (2003), and White Spirit (2007). Her field of interest is the world of psychiatry. She met famous psychiatrist Jean Oury, with whom she made a feature-length documentary composed of interviews, Le Sous-bois des insensés (2015). Her latest documentary, Les heures heureuses/The Happy Hours (2019), uses archival material to tell the unique story of the French psychiatric institution Saint-Alban.
