Len Lye

Len Lye, born Leonard Charles Huia Lye (1901-1980, New Zealand), is known primarily for his experimental films. He pioneered many film-making techniques, including 'direct animation', the process of drawing and scratching designs directly onto film. He was also one of the first artists to work with movement in sculpture.
