Kim Ki-Duk

KIM Ki-Duk (b. 1960, South Korea) studied Fine Arts in Paris, dropped out and then acquired an international reputation with often controversial low-budget films as a self-taught man. In 2003, he made Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring. In 2004 he won prizes for best director in Berlin (Samaritan Girl) and Venice (Bin-jip/3-Iron); in 2011 he won Un Certain Regard in Cannes with the documentary Arirang and in 2012 he won the Golden Lion in Venice with Pieta.
