José Luis Garci

José Luis GARCI (1944, Spain) is one of the most influential film personalities in the history of film in Spain and is also a well-known writer of science fiction, scripts and essays. He is the Spanish director with the most nominations for Best Foreign Language Film at the U.S. Academy Awards. In 1982, he won his country's first Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award for Begin the Beguine. He has remained an integral voice in the Spanish film landscape since the 1970s.
