John Magee

John MAGEE (1884 - 1953, USA) was an American missionary who worked in China from 1912 till 1940. On a mission to Nanjing he witnessed the Nanjing Massacre of 1937 and shot it, in close-up, on a then very advanced 16mm-film camera. This footage was used as a significant visual record of Japanese war crimes.
