Jim Chuchu
The Kenyan Jim CHUCHU (1982) is a photographer, filmmaker, musician and video artist. He is co-founder and creative director of The NEST, a multidisciplinary art space in Nairobi. He released his first short film Homecoming in 2013. In 2014, Chuchu's first long feature, Stories of Our Lives, premiered in Toronto. It is an anthology of five short films dramatizing true stories of LGBT life in Kenya, where the film is banned for 'promoting homosexuality'. The film won several awards, including Berlinale's Teddy Jury Award and Chéries-Chéris Jury Prize. Tapi! (2020) has its world premiere at IFFR.
