Jean Epstein

Jean Epstein (1897-1953, Warsaw) grew up in Switzerland and France. In 1921 he wrote his first work on film theory, Bonjour Cinema, and the following year he made his first film, Pasteur. After the advent of the sound film, he largely wrote about film theory, but also continued to make films.
