Ishii Yuya

ISHII Yuya (1983, Japan) studied screen images at Osaka University of Arts and made many works while at university. He has garnered many prizes at various film festivals in Japan, beginning with his debut feature, Bare-assed Japan (2005), which was awarded the Grand Prix at the PIA Festival in Japan. Ishii's films are know for their honest and loving portraits of the main characters' peculiarities and passions. The Great Passage is his ninth film and the Japanese entry for the Oscars.
