Hawa Essuman

Soul Boy is a first film by Ghanian-Kenyan young female filmmaker Hawa ESSUMAN. German director Tom Tykwer, known for e.g. his films Lola rennt (1998) and Heaven (2002), supported Essuman in making this film based on a script Tykwer wrote together with the Nairobi-based writer Billy Kahora. In 2010 Soul Boy had its world premiere at the IFFR in the theme section Where Is Africa.
