Gonzalo Suarez

Gonzalo SUÁREZ (1934, Spain) studied French Philology and Art, and after graduating started work as a journalist. He also wrote his first book, De cuerpo presente. In 1969 his first feature film Ditirambo was released. In the same year he also made his second feature El extraño caso del doctor Fausto. The film was nominated for a Golden Bear at the 1970 Berlin Film Festival, which ended prematurely. Due to a lack of commercial success, he started focusing on making more commercial films. His films have received numerous nominations and awards at film festivals including Cannes, Berlin and San Sebastián and at the Goya Awards.
