George Kuchar

George Kuchar (1943-2011) was already a well-known name in experimental film circles in New York City by the age of 21. He has made more than seventy films and videos, initially together with his twin brother Mike. He taught at the San Francisco Art Institute for forty years, where he made many videos in collaboration with his students. He was awarded several times for his work: In 1984 Kuchar received the Los Angeles Film Critics Award, in 1992 the prestigious Maya Deren Award from the American Film Institute, and a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Chicago Underground Film Festival in 1996.
