Eva Heldmann

Eva Heldmann (1951, Germany) became a filmmaker after completing her studies in German, psychology, and pedagogy at the University of Marburg. She co-founded the Mondpalast art house cinema in Germany in 1979 and was greatly inspired by the experimental film programming at both the Städelschule in Frankfurt and Kinothek Asta Nielsen throughout the 1980's. Feminist subjects and female sexuality have been key themes throughout her career, which spans Super 8, 35mm, 16mm and more recently, digital mediums.

Her work has exhibited at a number of international film festivals including Berlinale Forum Expanded and International Short Film Festival Oberhausen. In 1995 Eva received "Best Film of the Year" at the Fetish Film Festival for Five Sex Rooms and a Kitchen.
